Local Artist Donates Compassion
Is compassion tangible? One local artist thinks so. So much so that she has designed entire collections of hospital and health care facility artwork with the goal of making compassion a tangible feeling for patients and caregivers.
“I understand the complexity of needs in a community hospital setting,” Danise Rosak explains. As well she should. She’s been designing and installing hospital art for nearly 35 years. Now she’s ready to share her compassionate artwork with her local neighborhood health care facilities and community hospitals.
“I’ve been installing hospital art since the 80’s,” Rosak states. “I’ve seen how artwork in a healthcare setting can change the atmosphere and do more than just cover blank white walls. Art can actually convey compassion, empathy, hope, and even facilitate healing.”
The feedback from caregivers and patients over the years has provided Danise with hard evidence that hospital-appropriate artwork in a medical setting can actually assist in communication, pain management, and promoting empathy and compassion. So after more than 35 years servicing huge facilities, Danise wants to provide free Compassion in Art™ decals to local community hospitals, ALFs, clinics, and even physicians’ offices.
Ms. Rosak has installed art at huge facilities including Broward Health, Fort Stewart Hospital, New Hanover Regional, Tuttle Army Health Clinic, Watson Clinic, and Cape Fear Valley Health.
“In addition to providing a cohesive theme throughout a facility, my Compassion in Art™ collections are meant to help caregivers and patients really feel that they are in a place of healing and hope where care giving is paramount. We’re here in Central Florida where healthcare is a huge industry, but it shouldn’t FEEL like a huge industry when you or someone you love is sick. It should feel like we’re providing care that will facilitate healing. I want my art to help both caregivers and patients FEEL like they are in a safe place where wellness is the expected result of their visit. I want to provide a little of that to my own community now.”
Nurses, Hospital Administrators, Practice Administrators, or a member of any ALF management team can request a free set of decals of one of the Compassion in Art™ collections. To request a free Compassion in Art™ Decals Collection for your clinic or facility email info@danaydesign.com.
