Green Solutions
Environmental Responsibility
Danay design has been a leader in embracing environmentally safe practices for years. We understand that green is not a color – but an attitude, a commitment and a responsibility.
In 2003, we discontinued using any paints, sealers and clear coats that contained toxic chemicals and switched to using water based and acrylic mediums.
Class A materials in accordance with fire safety regulations and infection control standards and adhering to green practices are just a few of the many ways Danay Design helps you create a sustainable design that is in harmony with nature.
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint while still providing leading edge artwork for healthcare facilities. Our company’s sustainable operational practices include recycling programs that encompass paper, bottles, computers and office equipment as well as the use of recycled shipping materials and office furniture. Lighting motion sensors, low mercury compact fluorescent lights and programmable thermostats contribute to energy conservation. Even our coffee and tea is fair trade.
Environmental Impact
Improving efficiency, conserving energy and reducing our carbon footprint.
Our commitment to environmental protection today is rooted in a desire to preserve the natural environment for future generations. We recognize that our commitment to sustainability is a journey of continuous improvement. The journey began in a corporate culture that has always encouraged us to reduce the impact of our operations in the environment while enhancing our contributions to the economy and to the world. We carefully and deliberately research, develop and deliver new products and services that keep pace with the challenges of our customers and the evolving definition of what it means to be green, today and tomorrow.
A long life expectancy means conservation of resources, both of our products and of the auxiliaries required to install them, because of the relatively infrequent need for renewal and disposal.
Benefits and FAQs
Learn more about the benefits of sustainable design and Danay Design practices and fabrication solutions.
What are the benefits of Danay Design Dimensional Mural Packages?
Our products are extremely tough and hard wearing, meaning a long life expectancy and further conservation of resources. Eco-friendly clear coats are easy to clean.
What are Danay Design murals and dimensional pieces made of?
We carve our original artwork from urethane foam which we reuse once a rubber mold is made from the part. Where does natural rubber come from?
Natural rubber is a renewable raw material extracted from the sap of the tropical rubber plant. We have chosen an extremely durable resin for our dimensional products that do not emit odors and are low VOC’s. Our murals are printed on canvas with a waterbased, inkjet, giclee printer then clear coated with a water based, no VOC’s clear. We use a Class A rigid substrate behind the canvas and seal the edges with paint and clear coat.
How important are ecological factors in production?
Danay Design murals are manufactured in a facility that uses only the absolute necessary amount of energy, obtained with high efficiency through the combined heat and power principle.
Are Danay Design murals easy to install?
Very easy. We include a DVD with each order showing easy installation of our dimensional murals.
Which environmentally compatible adhesives are used to install Danay Design murals?
Danay Design murals and dimensional artwork is installed using solvent-free, environmentally-friendly acrylic adhesives—classified as low-emission products according to ECI or South Coast (CA) Air Quality Management, District 1168.
Are the packaging materials environmentally friendly?
Danay Design products are packaged in 100% recyclable cardboard boxes.
Do Danay Design murals emit dangerous substances when in use? Do these substances affect indoor air quality?
Due to the composition of our products, they do not emit substances in toxic concentrations.
How long do Danay Design murals last?
Our durable floor coverings have extended life cycles, typically 30 years, which reduce the need for frequent removal and disposal.
What does Danay Design do with the production scraps?
We use most of our scraps as fillers or for smaller projects. Everything else is recycled.
What is your company philosophy on environmental protection in the workplace?
Danay Design employees are committed to reducing their carbon footprint. The company’s sustainable operational practices include recycling programs that encompass paper, bottles, computers and office equipment, as well as the use of recycled shipping materials and office furniture. Lighting motion sensors, low mercury compact fluorescent lights and programmable thermostats contribute to energy conservation. Even our coffee and tea is fair trade.
Danay Design initiatives include:
Low voc paint and materials.
Green products in the shop and office and green products for cleaning. We only use biodegradable lawn treatments. We also recycle paper products, old computers and peripherals.
Energy efficient office products and equipment such as energy-saving light bulbs.
Using less paper – we try extra hard to run that paperless office that has been in the works for a decade or more. Only print one copy of a report and distribute throughout the office if everyone needs to read it. Print only the emails that need to be kept as record. Forward as much email as possible. Proofread on the screen more and print fewer drafts of reports and letters.
